888 TV Ads Banned

Popular mobile casino brand 888 Casino has had their ads pulled from TV by the UK’s Advertising Standards Agency.  The issue was relating to their VIP and High Roller services and offers.  There was a complaint made by Entertainment Enterprises otherwise known as Poker Stars about the ad and various claims that were made in it.

Invalid Claims?

Through the TV ad there was a banner across the screen stating that they have the “best VIP promotions anywhere”.  Further claims were that they had the “best VIP promotions anywhere” and that they were “simply the best”.  It was also suggested that  the VIP promotions, bonuses and offers at 888 Casino are the best you can find anywhere online.  It was suggested that this could be misleading to prospective customers.

Response by Cassava

888 Casino is operated by Cassava Enterprises and they commented on the event stating that the language in the adverts was deliberately broad and that although they had made the claim to be the best it wasn’t taken as a literal meaning by customers.  Another point made was the ads weren’t too different from that they have seen from other brands, in fact even the one that had made the complaint so surely they could comprehend that it shouldn’t be taken as an actual claim!

Response by 888 Casino

They took a different approach and did acknowledge that the message was a bit specific and that customers could take a literal meaning from it but that there weren’t any specifics as to why their offers were the best.

Despite the on going debate – the Advertising Standards Agency took the decision to ensure that the ads weren’t to be shown on TV again as they were.  It was also stated that in any future campaigns 888 Casino had to take extra care not to make any claims that they had the “best” of something.

888 Mobile Casino

888Casino is a very popular mobile brand.  It has a great range of new player bonuses as well as a huge range of games.  Players’ can enjoy slots, casino games, instant games and more all from their handheld device.  We are sure that this isn’t the last we will see of this brand on TV – but they will probably be much more careful!
